Warangal: Following instructions from the Telangana Government, the CID has launched investigation into the massive Rs 33 crore Indiramma Housing scam. The District Housing Project Director Lakshman lodged a complaint with the CID regarding the irregularities in the Indiramma Housing scheme.

The CID officials identified in the preliminary inquiry that massive irregularities have taken place in Regonda, Palakurthi, Narasimhulupet, Chityala and Mogullapalli mandals in the district. The Housing department officials here admit that there was a massive scam involving Rs 33 crore in payments made for the Indiramma Housing Scheme through the Self-Help Groups in Bhupalapalli and Dornakal constituencies.

Already Rs one crore out of the paid amount has been recovered under the Revenue Recovery Act. If an in-depth inquiry was conducted more such irregularities would emerge, Lakshman said.

The irregularities include allotment to ineligible persons, payment of bills without construction and houses only on paper in cases of 500 sanctions. Sanjeev Kumar, DSP of CID, warned of taking stern action against those responsible for the scam after expediting the inquiry. He said criminal cases would be registered against the ineligible beneficiaries.
