Khammam: Rival members of women self-help groups clashed at the Municipal Corporation office here on Wednesday.

The women belonged to the self-help groups of B K Bazar in the city were paying their contributions every month to the resource person for depositing the money in the bank. However, resource person Sakeena reportedly had failed to deposit it in the bank for past few months.

As a result, the bank sent a notice that the group owed Rs 1.5 lakh.

Members of a self-help group a few days ago visited the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) office located within the corporation office and urged the officials there to sack the resource person.

However, members of another self-help group visited the MEPMA office on Wednesday and urged the officials to retain the resource person. Members of the rival self-help groups too rushed to the place and clashed with members of the other group. As the tempers flared, they fought with each other by pulling each other’s hair.
