Khammam: The State government should increase the reservation for Scheduled Tribes (STs) in accordance with the population, Girijana Sangham State president Guguloth Dharma said. Addressing a meeting here on Saturday, he demanded that the government increase the existing six per cent reservation for tribals to 10 per cent. After the State bifurcation, the ratio of tribals had almost doubled compared to the State population, he said.

He also demanded that the government fill the vacancies only after increasing the reservation for tribals. He called upon tribal youths to take part in a protest to be held in Hyderabad on March 25 to exert pressure on the government demanding resolution of their problems. Employees’ Union leaders Guguloth Haranath, Sobhan Naik, Kesya Naik, Tejawath Venkatesh, Banoth Kiran, Bukya Raj, Tejavath Vinod, Boda Ashok, Tejavath Ashok and Tejavath Naresh were among others present at the meeting.
