Adilabad: Said to be a critical phase in commissioning the Unit-II of 600 MW of 1200 MW coal-based thermal power project coming up at Jaipur in Adilabad district, the light up of the second boiler took place in the presence of N Sridhar, Chairman and Managing Director of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), on Thursday.


After inspecting the plant, he said that 95 per cent of the work including boiler, turbine and generator (BTG) is completed and they were looking to finish off the balance of work as early as possible as per the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s directions. “Efforts are on to commission the first plant by January 2016 and the second plant by March 2016,” Sridhar said, lauding the NTPC team that has been working overtime.


Stating that they were awaiting the permission from the Centre for the third plant, he said, “Once we get the green signal, the tenders’ process will begin.” Referring to the coal production in the SCCL, he expressed hope to augment the coal production to 80 million tonnes in the next five years.


He said that the company was making all the efforts to cater to the power needs of Telangana State revealing that the company would start the mining operations in Kondapuram underground, Bellampally Open cast-II and Godavarikhani open cast-III very soon.
