Hyderabad: In order to beautify the city and make it one of the global cities, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is planning to involve Residential Welfare Associations for taking up various innovative schemes to develop the city into a pollution-free, clean and green city.


In this connection, a review meeting was held with the members of Welfare Federation at GHMC Head Office on Thursday. "The GHMC has already planned to deploy 2,500 auto tippers, 44 lakh garbage bins, e-Libraries, gyms and other innovative schemes with the help of the Residential Welfare Associations," informed GHMC Commissioner & Special Officer Somesh Kumar.


Importance would be given to the Residential Welfare Associations, and presently who were lifting the garbage would be given preference to take up sanitation works to have clarity. The Residential Welfare Associations must play a responsible and key role to safeguard the properties and also to take up the sanitation works in a more appropriate way, he added.


The Special Officer said GHMC was planning to make it a dustbin-free city. Keeping in view the importance of the sanitation, in the coming 40 days dust bins would be distributed to every household under the GHMC limits. While taking up the sanitation works, the biometric would be taken into consideration for clarity.


"The schemes which are being taken up by the GHMC will be made available on the website for clarity to the citizens and as well as the Residential Welfare Associations," he said. The Commissioner further added that a separate call centre would be provided for the citizens to represent their grievances.


A lot of complaints were being received on the website and necessary arrangements were being made to solve the issues on priority. Even the GHMC was also willing to provide identity cards to the Residential Welfare Associations’ members in the coming days.


Somesh Kumar said there were some 3,000 Residential Welfare Associations in the GHMC limits and only a few associations have registered on the GHMC website. In this context, the Commissioner appealed to Residential Welfare Associations to come forward and get registered on GHMC website and also to cooperate with the GHMC in taking up various civic-related works in near future.


Additional Commissioners N Ravi Kiran, Jayaraj Kennedy, Residential Welfare Associations Federation members B T Srinivas, K S Sarma, Geetha, Ashwin, Radha Krishna and other officials attended the review meeting.
