Warangal: In a bid to strengthen left wing unity, political parties professing leftist and socialist ideologies are planning to make use of the ensuing Warangal Parliament by-election as an instrument to measure their political strength. The idea of all the Left parties coming together to field a common candidate for the election is just the beginning of unifying the parties having leftist leanings.
As an attempt to display their unity, a massive preparatory meeting for the parliamentary by-election was held by 10 parties having leftist leanings in Hanamkonda. CPI(M) state secretary T Veerabhadram, state secretary Ch Venkat Reddy, RSP leader Janakiramulu, MCPI (U) Mohammad Ghouse and others attended the meeting.
‘Warangal district has got a great history of left wing agitations and from here, we intend to lay foundation for Left wing unity,’ CPI state secretary Ch Venkat Reddy told The Hans India on the sidelines of the meeting.Venkat Reddy said that there were names like balladeer Gaddar and Prof Gali Vinod Kumar being considered as the possible candidate.
Whoever is the candidate in the Warangal Parliament by-election, the main emphasis is sending across a message of Left unity in the country, he opined. There is an urgent need to fight collectively against the misrule of the TRS in the State and BJP at the Centre.Hence the Left parties and likeminded forces would be united for the purpose of winning the election, CPM leader Veerabhadram said.
CPM district secretary S Vasudeva Reddy told The Hans India on Wednesday that they would be involving Osmania and Kakatiya University scholars, students and intellectuals professing leftist ideology for canvassing support in the by-election. Responding to TDP leader L Ramana’s comments that contesting in the election would be a waste of time for Left parties, Vasudeva Reddy said the TDP leaders should first introspect as to why the TDP was in such a pathetic position in the Telangana State.
