The GHMC will bear 70 per cent of the costs and the remaining 30 per cent will be borne by the residents in their respective areas

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy on Thursday sanctioned Rs 7.42 crore to supply drinking water to residents on the city outskirts.

“The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) will take up repairing works and the GHMC has sent proposals to the State government that the works would cost around Rs 22.42 crore,” said Janardhan Reddy.

“The civic body will bear 70 per cent of the costs and the remaining 30 per cent will be borne by the residents in their respective areas,” he added.

He further stated that considering the proposals, the GHMC on Thursday evening has released Rs 7.42 crore as the first installment. The sanctioned funds would be used for constructing 900 KL reservoir at KPHB colony, for repairing 1.5 MLD capacity STP at Malaysian township and 65 other repairing work on the city outskirts.
