Hyderabad: Good news for dialysis patients. The Telangana State government has accorded permission for the establishment of Haemodialysis Blocks on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in 20 hospitals across the State, including the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Adilabad.

The Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP), which identified suitable space with availability of water and electricity facilities for establishment of dialysis units in hospitals under its administrative control, appealed to the government to accord permission for establishing dialysis units by calling tenders in the PPP model.

Against this backdrop, the government on Friday directed the TVVP to call for tenders on PPP mode for the establishment of units at RIMS Adilabad, Tandur, Vanasthalipuram (Rangareddy), Sangareddy, Siddipet (Medak), Mancherial, Nirmal, Utnoor (Adilabad), Suryapet, Nalgonda, Bhadrachalam (Khammam), Eturunagaram, Mahabubabad (Warangal), Jagityal, Karimnagar, Gadwal, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar and Kamareddy (Nizamabad).

The TVVP/Director, RIMS, Adilabad was authorised to execute a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the service providers that shall be valid for a period of five years from the date of signing of the MoA.

Speaking to The Hans India, RIMS Hospital Superintendent Kandukuri Ashok said: “Minister for Health C Laxma Reddy, who recently visited the RIMS in Adilabad, has assured the administration that a dialysis unit would be sanctioned at the earliest after he came to know about the problems of the patients, who as of now are dependent on dialysis units in Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Warangal.”

The need for a dialysis unit in temple town Bhadrachalam Area Hospital is also a long-standing demand as patients, mostly tribals, were forced to travel Khammam or Warangal.

Under the terms and conditions, the hospitals have to provide rent-free bare space, free water supply and extension of power supply. But electricity charges will be borne by the service provider through separate energy meter. The service provider have to bear house-keeping including waste disposal, doctor and all medical and paramedical staff, besides procuring all equipment and site preparation including air conditioning.
