Hyderabad: B Venkatesham, Secretary, Telangana Tourism Department, organised a tourism interaction meet with prominent stakeholders in the industry consisting of hoteliers, international airline operators, resorts, Telangana Non Resident Indians Associations (NRIs), etc.

The main objectives of the meeting was branding of NRIs of Telangana as ambassadors for attracting foreign tourists to the State, celebration of NRI Day (a regular annual event) , idea for implementation of ‘Hyderabad Pass’, discussions on drafting new Telangana tourism policy, integration and promotion of ‘Happening Hyderabad’ and involvement of tourism stakeholders.

The meeting was also attended by the Commissioner, GHMC, Commissioner, HMDA, Managing Director, RTC, Managing Director, TSTDC, CEO, GMR Airport and top decision makers from hotels and resorts of Hyderabad. The representatives of prominent Telangana NRI associations from the UK, the USA, South Africa and Bahrain were also present.

It was also decided to organise the first Telangana NRI Divas, which will be held shortly in Hyderabad, wherein an estimated 30,000 Telangana NRIs will be participating. All the participants appreciated this novel idea of involving private tourism stakeholders in Telangana tourism promotion. The GHMC and the HMDA readily agreed to the request of the Tourism Department for opening up of an exclusive tourism & culture wings for promoting Hyderabad as an international destination.

Secretary (Tourism) invited all tourism stakeholders for suggestions that can be incorporated in the Telangana tourism policy, on the occasion.
