Hyderabad: Describing the Congress candidates’ victory as a win in democratic manner, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Congress had won two MLC seats though the ruling TRS indulged in low-level politics by resorting to blackmailing, misusing power, threatening public representatives, buying public representatives like domestic animals in the market, making politics as business and following undemocratic ways in the elections.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday, Uttam alleged that the TRS government concentrated only for selfish motives but never focussed on State’s interests. The TRS introduced venomous culture in politics, keeping the public interest aside and it was not happened anywhere in the country.

He alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had hatched a political conspiracy to cut the Opposition parties to size and for this the Chief Minister kept the Constitution aside and indulged in anti-traditional policies as he wished. He also said the Congress had won the election in Nalgonda with 193 majority, though the ruling TRS spent huge money. He said the Congress candidate Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy won the election with first priority votes. The Congress won one MLC seat in Mahbubnagar where it fielded its candidate in one seat.

The CPI candidate had lost the election by mere 31 votes in Khammam district where the Congress extended its support to the CPI candidate Puvvada Nageshwara Rao, he said. In Mahbubnagar, the Congress candidate had got 379 votes and won the election. He said the win in two seats showed the sincerity of the Congress leaders.

The TPCC chief exuded confidence that the Congress would continue its winning streak in the coming elections. The undemocratic politics of the ruling party reached to the peak in Ranga Reddy district where they had no majority votes but won two MLC seats, he alleged. He said the people were observing everything and they would teach a fitting lesson in a perfect time.

He also alleged that the YSRCP was working as an agent of the ruling TRS and it was proved in Khammam district with the win of TRS candidate Balasani Laxmi Narayana. Uttam further said they would adopt ‘select and elect’ system in the ensuing GHMC elections in selecting candidates. The party workers of the concerned divisions would select their candidates, who have more winning chances.
