Sanctioning of 30, 000 double bedroom houses to poor in the tri cities of Warangal Hanamkonda Kazipet, an expression of gratitude by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in return for the TRS thumping victory in recent Warangal Parliament by poll, is well taken.
Warangal: Sanctioning of 30, 000 double bedroom houses to poor in the tri-cities of Warangal-Hanamkonda-Kazipet, an expression of gratitude by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in return for the TRS’ thumping victory in recent Warangal Parliament by-poll, is well-taken. The Chief Minister’s announcement here on Wednesday would have a telling effect on the poll prospects of Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the ensuing Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) elections, the political circles here opined.
It might be noted that the GWMC elections are likely to be held in March. The timing of KCR’s announcement is aptly set to create a positive mood among the voters especially the poorer sections towards the party. CM K Chandrashekar Rao’s appeal to the homeless poor to submit their applications at Tahsildar, MRO and district Collectorate has come as a great relief to the thousands of applicants, mainly the women. Over the past several days, they were making rounds to the district Collectorate and other government offices to submit their applications but got rejected on the pretext that the applications should be submitted at respective ward or Gram Sabhas.
“The CM’s announcement really came as a blessing for us. I went to the Collectorate twice along with others to submit the application seeking double bedroom house but the officials have not accepted it,” said Rahimunnisa, a resident of NTR Nagar, who works as a house maid. Similarly, the Chief Minister has created a favourable ambience for the TRS to face the municipal elections by announcing a slew of city-specific developmental measures such as 20 community halls and equal number of markets, a Theme Park on 250-acre land, Outer Ring Road, making the city free from slums in the next three years and others.
New buildings for schools and colleges that are in dilapidated condition and a new building for Government Music and Dance College, building for Health University, setting up Tribal University are welcomed by intellectual community but with some trepidation. “The measures announced by the Chief Minister are seemingly good. But there should be a time frame to complete them,” pointed out an associate professor of Kakatiya University K Damodar Rao. There are many projects which the Chief Minister announced in that past but have not yet started, he told The Hans India.
The decision to launch the works long pending underground drainage in the tri-cities would change the face of the city, a TRS leader G Ravi Kumar noted. It might be recalled that KCR during the 2014 general elections promised to lay underground drainage within 100 days, if his party comes to power.
