The High Court at Hyderabad summoned Chief Executive Officer of Society for Elimination of Poverty (SERP) and senior IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh government S Solomon Arokiaraj to be present in the court and explain his non-compliance with the orders of the Court.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice P Naveen Rao took serious note of the officer's conduct and warned that it can issue a non-bailable warrant for contempt of court.

The bench was hearing a writ appeal filed by SERP on Tuesday against the order given by Justice Sanjay Kumar directing the reinstatement of Bejjam Ramesh Babu as contract employee with SERP.

The single judge ordered payment of 50 per cent of back wages to the petitioner and imposed Rs 25,000 as costs to SERP for its arbitrariness.

The division bench during the last hearing had asked the counsel for SERP Raviteja Padiri to ensure compliance of the single judge order first by depositing the amount.

When the counsel informed the bench on Tuesday that the order could not be complied with, the bench took serious exception. “If the CEO thinks he can play with the Court, let him know what the consequences would be,” so saying the bench summoned the IAS officer to be present in the court on June 2 when the next hearing would take place.
