Hyderabad: The temporary bypass road adjacent to the new Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) corporate office building at Rasoolpura junction would be soon made operational to overcome the traffic jams in the stretch of Begumpet Road and Rasoolpura junction.

The decision was taken after inspection of the Metro Rail works by the Hyderabad Metro Rail and GHMC officials on Thursday. Municipal Administration Minister K Taraka Rama Rao had suggested the officials to provide a solution for the increased traffic congestion on Begumpet road and at Rasoolpura junction in the wake of ongoing Metro rail works.

HMR Managing Director N V S Reddy, GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy and city Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy took part in the inspection on Thursday.

The HMR MD has asked the L&T MRHL engineers to immediately start the temporary bypass road adjacent to the new HMR corporate office building at Rasoolpura junction to facilitate better flow of traffic going towards Secunderabad. He also wanted them to close down the right turn towards Minister’s Road at Rasoolpura junction during peak hours.

NVS Reddy also said: “The damaged manhole covers will be rectified by GHMC and HMWS&SB and the damaged road portion in the stretch between Paradise junction and Rasoolpura junction will be repaired by GHMC.

Traffic channelisers on Minister’s Road side of Rasoolpura junction will be improved to prevent interference of the traffic coming from Minister’s Road with Begumpet road traffic.”

During peak hours, L&TMRHL should provide more Traffic Marshals and traffic police officers and HMRL police officials would supervise traffic movement. Traffic diversion boards and signages should be erected by L&TMRHL at important points.
