Hyderabad: The ongoing tussle between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over water sharing reached a new level on Friday as the State government shot off a letter to the AP counterpart clarifying that it would not fill Dr KL Rao Sagar Pulichintala reservoir with water from River Krishna this season until all grievances of the displaced were addressed.

The officials said the State government expressed its inability to release water in the reservoir since the Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) for the displaced at the project site and at all lift irrigation schemes under construction were pending for years.

The State government brought the delay in implementing R&R scheme to the notice of the AP government for several times, but in vain. Nearly 13 villages were facing submergence at project site in Nalgonda district. Officials said that the reservoir built with a capacity of 40 tmcft under the project would not be filled with water this year.
