Khammam: Without people’s movements, it’s difficult to exert pressure on the government to mend its ways and honour its poll promises, CPI (M) district secretary P Sudarshan Rao said.

Addressing a party meeting here on Wednesday, he emphasised the need for amassing people’s support for their movement against the anti-people policies of the government.

‘It’s been over two years since the TRS came to power, however, the government didn’t fulfill none of its promises made during the 2014 elections,’ Rao said, accusing the rulers of not implementing the several legislations envisaged for safeguarding the rights of forest dwellers.

The government failed to keep a tab on fee though the managements of the corporate institutions are making merry fleecing the people bulldozing the norms, he said.

Referring to the issues faced by the farmers, he criticised the government for not issuing identity cards to tenant farmers. Rao demanded the government to allocate special funds for the uplift of backward classes.

Emphasising the need for mobilising the people support, he geared up the party activists to launch protests against the government to make it to listen to the people’s hardships.

Senior leaders Macha Venkateswarlu, Ponnam Venkateswara Rao, AJ Ramesh, A Kanakaiah, K Venkateswara Rao, Yerra Srikanth, V Srinivasa Rao, TL Narsaiah, D Krishna, K Narsimha Rao, M Bharathi, Bhukya Veerabhadram, N Manohar, B Malssor, K Joji, Balaraju, Basheeruddin, M Nageswara Rao, Ghouse, Krishnaiah, D Venkanna, Nagaraju, Perumallu, K Pullaiah, B Ganapathi, T Lingaiah, D Nageswara Rao, Ch Ramesh and N Srinivas were among others present.
