Nizamabad: The TRS Lok Sabha member K Kavitha on Saturday lashed out at Opposition party leaders, particularly the Congress and TDP, for their criticism on the State government signing a pact with the Maharashtra government to facilitate construction of irrigation project on the River Godavari.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Kavitha said that it appeared that the Opposition leaders had no understanding on the irrigation projects in the State. The Congress leaders should learn a lesson from the leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy, who, she said, had denied that there was any agreement during the Congress regime with Maharashtra government on Tummadihatti project height. Jana Reddy said the Congress leaders should learn to speak the truth. She thanked the Leader of Opposition for making the issue clear. Jana Reddy, she said, had spoken the truth rising above political politics.

Kavitha alleged that the people of the State knew that the Congress leaders were resorting to propaganda and warned that such misinformation campaign would prove costly to the Opposition. The Congress had indulged in large-scale corruption in the name of projects without actually working on them, she said. She alleged that TDP working president A Revanth Reddy was working on the directions of the party high command based in Amaravati. "Revanth should know the topography of the Telangana State also and not just that of AP, she added.

Since Medigadda project is in Adilabad, and Adilabad borders Maharashtra, hence the agreement was reached with Maharashtra government for the project. He should stop indulging in malicious campaign," she said. Kavitha said that it was the responsibility of the BJP to get national project status for the Kaleshwaram. Maintaining that the reorganisation of districts was being carried out scientifically, she appealed the people to cooperate with the State government in the exercise.
