Congress jealous of monumental development in State: Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy

Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy has charged the Congress party with getting jealous over the monumental developmental programmes in the State. He also firmly rejected the demand of TPCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy to resign owing to fake seeds distribution in the State.

Speaking at a programme on Rabi Conference attended by agriculture officials and deputy directors from 31 districts at Potti Sriramulu Telugu University here on Friday, Pocharam condemned TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy’s comments for his removal from the cabinet for alleged fake seeds issue in the State. He said during the previous Congress regime as Housing Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and other Congress leaders had pocketed funds to the tune of several lakhs in the name of housing scheme for the poor. “The State Congress chief is noted for dubious distinction of deceiving the people and pocketing funds,” he alleged.

“Rampant corruption and gross irregularities took place in the weaker sections’ housing scheme during the Congress regime,” he charged. On spurious seeds row, the Minister said the State government took serious action against those involved in the irregularities. The government would not hesitate to use PD Act against such erring seeds companies, he warned. “The Congress leaders should stop carrying out misinformation campaign with jealousy. The Opposition was indulging in mudslinging over the welfare schemes for political mileage,” he charged.

He also said that the State government was ready to revive the Nizam Sugar Factory (NSF) and hand it over to the sugarcane farmers to maintain. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was ready to revive the NSF for the welfare of the sugarcane farmers, he said. He also lashed out at former minister Sudershan Reddy saying that during the previous 10-year Congress rule, he had failed to discharge his duties as a member of Assembly Committee on such key issues.
