Hyderabad: Congress party on Monday slammed Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao saying that his party was conducting false surveys to project himself as the number one CM in the country. Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy said KCR encouraged defections and lured legislators from other parties to TRS.

The CM’s popularity increased due to defections from other parties and not due to his work, the TPCC chief said. Reddy said the TRS government had neglected every section of the society and has not fulfilled any of the major poll promises. At a time when the government was facing the ire of the people, especially from farmers and the students, for not waiving farm loans and not clearing fee reimbursement dues, the government was conducting bogus surveys and was claiming to be a popular government.

If the TRS government is so popular, then why should KCR indulge in luring legislators of other parties into his party fold, the Congress leader questioned?
The TPCC chief said that the TRS government which claimed to convert Hyderabad into a world class city has completely ruined it by neglecting the public infrastructure. TRS, during GHMC elections, made false promises to seek votes and ignored to provide even the basic infrastructure in the city. Let alone world class infrastructure, the government failed to repair even the damaged roads, he said.

The Congress leader came down heavily on the TRS government saying that it resorted to mismanagement of state finances and pushed the state into a debt trap. Telangana which had surplus resources during the last six decades is now in huge debts after the two years of TRS rule, he said.

Earlier, Uttam Kumar along with party leaders Shabbir Ali, Bhatti Vikramarka, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Hanumantha Rao, Madhu Yaskhi Goud and others paid tributes to Congress veterans- former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary and India's first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
