HPCL secures no-objection certificates from District Magistrates to set up 32 petrol retail pumps across the State

Hyderabad: The proposal of setting up petrol bunks on TSRTC lands to generate revenues has gained momentum with district Collectors issuing No-Objection Certificate (NOCs) to over 32 outlets proposed by HPCL.

In its efforts to increase revenues, other than the ticketing, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has decided to run petrol bunks on lands owned by it across the State.

According to RTC officials, the HPCL authorities gave a report to the Corporation expressing their interest in setting up petrol pumps at major locations in the State other than the capital city. TSRTC managing director G V Ramana Rao told The Hans India on Wednesday that the Corporation had entered into an agreement with the oil company for setting up of the bunks. HPCL, at first had given a proposal for setting up 52 petrol bunks at various locations out of which 32 outlets got an NOC.

As per the rules, for setting up a petrol pump, the company should posses explosive license from Chennai and also has to procure a NOC from the district Magistrate, who would inspect the premises before setting up the pump. Ramana Rao also said that, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) too has come forward with a proposal for setting up the petrol bunks. The IOC’s proposal suggested for about 60 bunks in the State, however, the Corporation would only take a decision after the feasibility study.

It should also be stated here that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, during his day-long review meeting with the RTC officials in June, directed the Corporation to find ways and means to increase revenues apart from the passenger services.

The Corporation has been reeling under accumulated losses of Rs 2,200 crore and previous year it faced losses of Rs 701 crore.
