Hyderabad: The High Court at Hyderabad on Wednesday refused to stay the elections to Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). The elections are scheduled to be held on January 17h.

The court, however, ordered that the results to the elections should not be declared until the hearing on the petition is completed on January 18.

Justice Challa Kodandaram gave this direction while hearing a civil revision petition filed by honorary secretary of HCA John Manoj, challenging the holding of these elections and appointment of an Advocate Commission for that purpose as directed by the V Additional District Judge through an interim order.

Senior counsel Vedula Venkatramana, appearing for the petitioner, contended that the member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) T Sesha Narayana along with the ad hoc committee of HCA misleading the court in securing that interim order, which in effect, decided the suit without adjudicating upon it.

He argued that the bye-laws of HCA would not permit creation of an ad hoc committee and sought a stay on the holding of elections.

Counsel representing the ad hoc committee of HCA submitted that holding of these elections was necessary in view of Justice Lodha committee recommendations.

The BCCI counsel also informed that since the term of the HCA body was already over, it was necessary to hold these elections.

The judge remarked that since it was a vacation bench, the matter cannot be gone into depth and posted the matter to January 18.
