Hyderabad: Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) president Manda Krishna Madiga on Saturday alleged that the government had diverted Rs 17, 500 crore funds under Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Sub Plan in two-and-half years whereas the both the Congress and TDP had diverted Rs 25,000 crore in two decades.

Speaking to the media, Manda Krishna said KCR had been making a mockery of Indian Constitution. He said that diversion of funds under SC/ST sub-plan was an insult to the Constitution.

He said the State government was even diverting the special grants under SC/ST sub-plan and not utilising it for what they were meant.

He said even the distribution of three acre land to Dalit families was progressing at a very slow pace and at this rate it would take centuries to meet the target. He asked the government to have a cut-off date for land distribution programme.

Commenting on the SC categorisation, he demanded that the Chief Minister lead an all-party delegation to New Delhi. He said the MRPS had filed an RTI application to get information on quantum of funds diverted by the government.

Once they got the reply, the MRPS would tour all the 119 assembly constituencies and launch an awareness campaign on the injustice being meted to the SCs and STs, he added.
