Hyderabad: Telangana Yuvajana Sanghala Committee, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and National Service Scheme (NSS) on Friday felicitated eight Padma Award winners from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states.
More than 1,000 students from various colleges, students from NSS and youth clubs participated in the felicitation programme. Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy, BJP State President K Laxman, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya along with others felicitated the Padma Awardees.
Dattatreya said that the aim of the NDA government is to develop the country; it is not for any caste, religion or the state. “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” is the main theory of the government. So far, every year Padma awards were announced only for some people who were chosen by the government.
However, this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Padma awards for people from rural areas. Youth has to accept this kind of challenges for the development of the country. Central government is initiating policies for the development of the youth associations, he added.
Naini Narsimha Reddy said that he is proud of the Telugu people who have won Padma awards. He said though the states are divided, the Telugu people of the both states have to be united.
The youth are the future of India and they have to initiate and participate in the programmes to protect our country, the Home Minister added.
BJP State President K Laxman said that many great people born on Telugu land had contributed to the society but gone unnoticed by the society.
However, this time, the Central government, has recognised the work and efforts made by commoners towards the betterment of the society. He further said, everyone has got talent and it should be developed and utilised for the society.
The Vice -Chairman of (NYKS), Shekhar Rao Perala said that the social workers who have created social awareness in the society have won Padma awards and these winners are not from the high-class society.
Some of the winners are not even know that they have won this award. It is a wake-up call for the youth of Telangana and the main focus of this programme is that the youth should seek inspiration and come up with new ideas to develop the society, he added.
