Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said the TRS government’s decision to table the bill for 12 per cent reservations for Muslims was like a self goal and the beginning of end for TRS government in Telangana.Party’s official spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said this decision was illegal, unconstitutional and was aimed at deceiving Muslims and OBC’s.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in his desperation to earn the 12.68 per cent of Muslim votes in the State was indulging in misadventure by violating constitutional provisions of no reservations on religious basis and also in full violation of Supreme Court order to not exceed 50 per cent outer limit for reservations.Rao said what was unthinkable was that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in the process of drawing more castes from Muslims and adding them in OBC’s with E category was hugely diluting the already diluted and not fully implementing the OBC reservations.

It amounts to directly snatching away the reservation benefits to over 51 per cent of the OBC population in the State.KCR’s misadventure will sink the TRS ship in the next elections, he said. The BC organisations across the State have already denounced this desperate act of the CM. They understand this decision is aimed purely for Muslim votes and are up in arms against KCR for denying them their constitutional right for reservations, by diluting them with addition of Muslims into their reservation quota through a back door categorisation, Rao added.

Krishna Saagar said BJP considers this petty vote bank politics as an insult to the architect of Indian Constitution and reservations Dr B R Ambedkar, as it belittles and reduces the real basis for reservations and makes it a mean tool to acquire vote banks for political parties. The BJP leader said while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in the process of providing constitutionality to protect the rights of OBC’s through the new BC Commission, KCR is busy snatching away OBC’s their rights through irrelevant, illegal and unconstitutional additions to their reservation quota for his political expediency.
