Hyderabad: Manish Goud, son of the ruling TRS leader and his friends were arrested for allegedly beating up and stabbing a toll plaza employee at Kadthal on Srisailam highway on Monday night.

The incident which was caught on the mobile camera went viral where the victim appeared to be bleeding. The other employees who were present at the toll plaza recorded the entire episode including the vehicle number, before it sped away.

Manish Goud is the son of M Rammohan Goud, the TRS in-charge for LB Nagar and Laxmi Prasanna, GHMC corporator representing TRS from BN Reddy Nagar.

He was part of the group of six persons who had allegedly attacked the toll gate staff with a knife when he was asked to pay the toll fee of Rs 30. They also attacked a few other toll gate staff members who were later taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Those who were present near the toll plaza informed the police that the accused were in an inebriated condition. A case under IPC 307 (attempt to murder) has been registered against the six, who were arrested later.

They were said to be returning from a friend's birthday party. When one of the employees at the toll gate tried to stop them, Manish reportedly refused claiming that he was a TRS leader's son. He then got down from the car and tried to attack the staff at the booth near the toll gate. One amongst the group of friends, Arun Reddy allegedly took out a knife and attacked the victim, Mahesh.

However, Manish's father and TRS leader, Rammohan Goud denied the involvement of his son in the incident. He said that his son was only sitting in the car but did not indulge in the attack. “He was sitting inside the car and three of his friends were involved in the attack," he said.

Reacting on the incident, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K Tarakarama Rao, in his tweet, assured stern action against those responsible for the incident. And later in the evening tweeted that the accused were sent to remand.
