Wanaparthy: ‘Simha Garjana’, a public meeting organised by the Congress witnessed huge crowds at the Polytechnic College Grounds in Wanaparthy on Sunday. Senior leader Chinna Reddy from Wanaparthy organised the meeting to show the party’s strength in the district and Kodangal MLA Revanth Reddy attended the meeting as the chief guests.
Interestingly, the Simha Garjana, exclusively organised by Chinna Reddy, did not have any State or national level leaders. Senior Congress leaders from the State including TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy, senior Congress leader from Gadwal D K Aruna kept themselves away from the meeting. It is said that this programme was exclusively organised to highlight the new entrant and firebrand leader Revanth Reddy.
According to party sources, the main objective of organising the meeting was to expose failures of The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government to the public. Started late in the evening, the programme attracted huge public gathering at the Polytechnic College grounds. It is estimated that more than 25,000 people attended to the meeting.
Wanaparthy MLA Chinna Reddy, while speaking on the occasion, said the Congress had rejuvenated its vigour and valour only after Revanth Reddy had entered into the Congress fold. He predicted that with Revanth’s entry into Congress, the prospects of winning 2019 elections for Congress had doubled.
Chinna Reddy recalled that when he was given Wanaparthy MLA ticket by the then AIIC president Rajiv Gandhi, it was Revanth Reddy who had campaigned for him in the elections. “Revanth Reddy is a firebrand and people are welcoming him in huge numbers wherever he goes. This has created fear and shiver for the TRS leaders.
During the past four years, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has not come out in public but only confined to his camp office Pragati Bhavan and is making tall claims but never fulfilled his promises. The wave that we are seeing today is definitely going to be a nightmare for TRS leaders. This itself speaks volumes that the TRS is a fading party and the future is of Congress,” said Chinna Reddy.
Chinna Reddy further said that TRS leader Niranjan Reddy can never fulfil his dream of becoming MLA from Wanparthy, as the people from the district were with him and would be with him even in future. Earlier, while Revanth Reddy was going to attend the meeting in Wanaparthy, his car hit a passerby on the road at Moosapet. The injured person from Tunkilipur fractured both his legs.
Following which the locals stopped Revanth Reddy’s car and staged a protest. Angered with this, Revanth came out and tried to pacify the public, however, locals demanded the injured person to be shifted to hospital in Revanth’s car. But finally, the police intervened and cleared the way for Revanth and shifted the injured to the hospital.
The meeting in Wanaparthy was attended by the Congress youth leaders. Sravan, Congress’ official representative, Congress representative from Kollapur Beeram Harshavardhan Reddy and Vamshi Chand from Achampet were among the major leaders present on the occasion.
