Hyderabad: Posts on social media about MLA A Revanth Reddy planning to float his own party created ripples in the Congress on Saturday. The Congress leaders taking note of the viral posts have been inquiring about the veracity of them. A post on the social media had gone viral which said that Revanth Reddy was contemplating to start his own political party in the State as he was not comfortable in the Congress.

According to sources, a recent informal chat of Revanth talking about his position in the party must have lent credentials to the post. Leaders of the Congress and other parties have been discussing the pros and cons of the proposal.

Revanth Reddy who is representing Kodangal Assembly constituency as MLA and who was the working president of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had joined the Congress last year. Speculations have been made regarding the post he will be given in the Congress. It had been speculated that he may be given the post of working president or chairman of the campaign committee. However, even after six months, the Congress assigned him no post.

Supporters of Revanth said that the MLA was disappointed with this. Revanth had grand plans before entering the Congress and had planned to hold Padayatra all over the State, but the party did not accord permission to this. Though Revanth wanted to become State level leader of the Congress party, he had been reduced to old Mahbubnagar district. The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) was also not taking his opinions seriously and he was not involved in any discussions on strategies, the source added.

Revanth rued with his close supporters that he was denied the freedom that he was enjoying in TDP. While Telugu Desam president Chandrababu Naidu used to heed to all his advices, the Congress did not care about his advices at all. He stated that there was no proper person to advice the leadership of the Congress and even if he was given working president post he would reject it. He also expressed his ambition to become Chief Minister of the State.

The Congress seniors have taken strong objection to this and lodged complaints against Revanth. They said that Revanth was given enough importance in the party and had been invited to several meetings during the Praja Chaitanya Yatra.

Few leaders said that Revanth knew very well about the fact that there would be no use of starting a political party. Even if he starts a party he would end up as helper of TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao.
