Hyderabad: Congress senior leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy on Saturday alleged that the K Chandrashekar Rao was trying to manage the Election Commission of India for holding early polls to the dissolved Assembly. Addressing the media, along with advocate Jandyala Ravishankar, the Congress leader said the EC should act impartially and should not succumb to the pressures. He wanted the ECI not to think beyond its limits.

Shashidhar Reddy made it clear that the Supreme Court never said EC could go for elections when revision of voter list was underway. The Article 324 of Constitution clearly says revision of voter list should be given importance and alleged that the caretaker Chief Minister was a heavy boozer and when he wants to scold the Congress drinks more.

He said that a memorandum on the claims of K Chandrashekar Rao about poll schedule of Telangana has been submitted to Election Commission of India and also a video clipping of KCR statement on holding the polls in November. Shashidhar Reddy said KCR asserted that the elections for the State would be held along with Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh etc. in the month of November itself as he spoke to the Chief Election Commissioner and the members of Election Commission of India.

This throws shadow of doubt on the conduct and the functioning of the Chief Election Commissioner and the members of Election Commission of India, he added. His claim to have influenced the Election Commission of India is throwing amount of doubt on the integrity and honesty of the independent Election Commission of India.

He said that he has failed to understand, when the schedule for the ongoing special summery of revision (SSR) for 2019 was to have the final voters list published in January 2019, how can the Election Commission conduct elections in Telangana.

The caretaker Chief Minister was claiming that the schedule for the SSR will not be followed by Election Commission and the same will be dispensed with, as the KCR has influenced the Election Commission.

Advocate Ravishankar said the direction of Supreme Court in the Gujarat election would not automatically applied to Telangana. He said that the prevailing conditions in Telangana and Gujarat differ from one to another.
