Toopran: Medak district Collector Dharma Reddy on Tuesday handed over an award and an appreciation certificate to residents of Konayapalli village after it was adjudged the best during the 47-day Swachh Seva drive. He also garlanded Gandhiji's statue in the village to mark Gandhi Jayanati.
Addressing the villagers, Reddy stated that every resident, both young and old, should take up the Swachh drive to keep their surroundings clean by removing piled up garbage and weeds. Such activity would give a healthy look to the village and please the visitors.
He disclosed that Konayapalli and Datharpalli have been given recognition in the district. They have been convered as new gram panchayats. He said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had visited the adjoining Malkapur after it was selected as 'adarsh' village and launched the 'Kanti Velugu' programme.
Reddy stated that following the release of additional funds development activities would be taken up in the two villages so as to prevail upon KCR to visit them. Among those present were DRO Sitarama Rao, RDO Syam Prakash, MPDO Srinivas Rao.
