Kukatpally: A 36-hour hackathon on ‘Smart Machines for Industries 4.0,’ which started on December 21 at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) College of Engineering, in association with J-Hub, concluded on Sunday. Dr A Govardhan, rector at JNTUH, attended the valedictory program as chief guest. E Saibaba Reddy, principal of JNTUH, presided over the program and Dr Supreethi, professor in computer science and engineering, coordinated the program. Naveen Kumar, Madhusudhan and Meenakshi represented industry at the program.

Speaking on the occasion, Govardhan said that industrialization can be speeded up through innovations in digital technology. He urged students to utilize their young minds and find ways to bring industrial development. Principal E Saibaba Reddy congratulated students for participating in Hackathon, which would help them in sharpening their skills and in improving their creativity.

Explaining the objective of the Hackathon, Supreethi said that students developed various solutions and innovative models using their IT skills to offer solutions to industry within 36 hours. Three best solutions would be selected and declared as winners of Hackathon, she said. The three teams would be given an opportunity to participate in Hackathon League to be held in JNTUH in the coming days, the coordinator added.

A total of 90 teams registered for the competition, out of which 30 teams were selected. 19 teams were successful in presenting innovative models at the hackathon. Each team consisted of four members. Tech wip provided the financial assistance to the event. A large number of students, teaching staff and industry experts participated in the valedictory program.
