Illustrating more about how blind faith can ruin relationships between families and friends, Manch Theatre group, by software professionals held a Telugu play named, ‘Chai edi be?’ at Lamakaan, Hyderabad on Sunday. Good performances and showcasing real-life situations giving out a social message in a form of comic drama impressed the audience. Talking about the team, the director of the play Manasa Saddi said, “This play was performed two years ago by our team. It was written by Srikant Banala. We are all from the software company Infosys. We are passionate about acting and so we formed a group.”
Sharing about the story she said, “It is a story about a relationship between two brothers and how they get separated after they hear a false prophecy of a Sadhu (Priest).” The story is set in a village where two brothers have a tiff about the property they own. These two brothers are the heads of their village, who are divided due to the disputes. A person who sells tea in a stall, and milkman, who supplies milk to the tea stall plan out to unite the brothers. The brothers who are blinded by the false prophecy of a priest become aware of the truth and realise whatever they were doing was wrong and unite again. Manasa, who has directed the play for the first time says, “We have performed this play for three times, now. And, each time, the audience enjoys it. It is a perfect mixture of comedy and drama.
