Hayathnagar: The officials of the Revenue department demolished illegal constructions in the Kuntloor area of Hayathnagar in Abdullapurmet mandal on Sunday. They pulled down theunauthorised structures built across 12.37 acres in survey no. 100, 9.16 guntas in survey no.107 and 6.36 guntas in Survey no. 78. The occupied land value in the market is said to be around Rs 100 crore.

The encroachers constructed houses, compound walls and shutters without securing any permission from the government in the land and even gave them away on rents, said Abdullapurmet MRO Ch Vijaya. The demolitions followed after a written complaint by the local tahsildar onthe encroachments of the government land. Tensions prevailed as people lay on the road in a bid to stop the police from acting against the illegal units. They were however moved to the police station.

The MRO told The Hans India that two Village Revenue Assistants (VRAs)were suspended for cooperating with the Transco officials in sanctioning meters. The victims told THI that they had been staying there for the last 15 to 20 years, when they were evicted without any notice. They said that they were paying electricity and water bills, besides property tax. The victims, while appealing to the government to render justice to them, broke down saying that their lives were ruined.

Meanwhile, the officials of the Town Planning Department of Quthbullapur GHMC Circle, headed by Assistant City Planner Raj Kumar and Section Officer Saritha, on Monday pulled down unauthorised constructions in survey no. 49/17, on the outskirts of Gajularamaram village upon receiving a complaint. The issue about the disputed government land opposite Hetero Drugs Company is pending in court.

According to the department officials, the alleged land-grabber, Tulsiram, took illegal possession of the land on the basis of notary documents and constructed structures on 325 sq yards of land. The officials took action following a written plea, along with documents. They told The Hans India that the demolition was taken up upon examining the plea.
