MLC aspirants’ fate sealed in survey report

Karimnagar: The survey report on the selection of candidates to contest in MLC elections, which are likely to be held very soon in the State, is going to be crucial for the MLC aspirants seeking ticket from Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS). To continue the winning streak of the TRS, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao issued orders to conduct a survey in the eight MLC constituencies for selecting the best candidature.

16 MLC seats will fall vacant by March 3, of which seven seats are to be filled under MLA quota, five through local bodies, two through Teachers' Constituencies and one each from Graduates Constituency and Governor's quota. The MLC seats for MLA quota does not need any election.
Excluding seven, elections will be held for the remaining eight MLC seats.It is to be noted KCR, who totally relies on surveys, has begun the exercise of finalising names for the members of Legislative Council and is going through the detailed report that was handed over to him by the survey teams.

As per the suggestions given by the TRS working president, some private agencies are probed for conducting surveys in MLC constituencies. Receiving the orders, the members of the survey teams enquiring the voters and people's representatives about the winning chances of candidates, who are aspiring for the MLC posts by visiting respective MLC constituencies. There is a tough competition for Teachers and Graduates MLC posts of Medak, Adilabad, Nizamabad and Karimnagar constituencies.

Government Chief Whip Poturi Sudhakar Reddy has been elected for Teachers' MLC post in the previous elections and Chairman of Assembly Council Swamy Goud for Graduates MLC post.As per sources, it is learnt that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is taking all factors into consideration such as caste equations, party loyalists and seniority and is going to shortlist the candidates’ names after studying the survey report which was already submitted to him.
