It remains to be seen whether Tamil superstar Vijay will break his jinx in T-town since his much-hyped film ‘Mersal’ dubbed in Telugu as ‘Adirindi’ is slated for release on Friday. Despite doing 50-odd films, Vijay was unable to score a blockbuster in the two Telugu states.

Even his last two releases like ‘Bhairava’ and ‘Theri’ couldn’t connect with Telugu audience. “No doubt, Vijay is a big star in Tamil Nadu and boasts of a huge fan following. However, he failed to deliver blockbuster in two Telugu states,” says producer N Padmini who feels that Telugu audience are not patronising his films for a reason. “Most of his films are formulaic and mass masala entertainers. Telugu audience prefer to watch novelty films from Tamil stars. With Telugu stars themselves adept in doing action adventures, so Vijay is finding it tough to break the jinx,’ she adds.
