The representatives of All India Student Federation (AISF), Peoples Democratic Student Union (PDSU), Students Federation of India (SFI), Democratic Student Union (DSU), Madiga Student Federation (MSF) and Telangana Vidyarthi Vibhagam (TVV) held a rally from Arts College and burnt an effigy of the Chief Minister in front of the main gate of Satavahana University.
Speaking on the occasion, student unions JAC president K Bhagya Raj said, ‘KCR came to power by promising to introduce KG to PG free education in the newly formed Telangana. Instead of making reforms along with appointing regular Vice-Chancellors for strengthening of existing universities, he is trying to sell the higher education sector to corporate companies.’
When asked about distribution of three acres of land to Dalits, the Chief Minister showed empty hands saying that land is not available. Now how he could hand over thousands of acres to corporate companies to establish private universities, he questioned.
Expecting lot of money from multi-national companies, KCR was trying to dissolve public education sector by introducing private universities and several students belonging to SC, ST, BC and minorities would face problems to pursue higher education, he lamented.
Bhagya Raj warned that all the students unions in the State would take up a massive movement if the government doesn’t takes back its decision of private universities. PDSU state president J Srinivas, AISF district president Manikanta Reddy, DSU district in-charge Janardhan, TVV state leader M Sandeep, SFI district president Thirupathi, MSF district president Prabhudev, other leaders Ramdas, Satish, Shekar, Rakesh, Nagaraju, Ugendar, Ranjith, Mamatha, Anusha, Rani, Anjali, Naveena and Rajitha were present along with others.
