Warangal: The Congress organised an awareness programme on the party’s Shakti App, at the party’s district headquarters in Hanamkonda on Friday.

Shakti App State coordinator and Parigi MLA Ram Mohan Reddy and the AICC Data Analytics Department coordinator Swapna Patronis explained the functioning of the mobile app and told party workers to register their names in the app.

The special mobile application, ‘Shakti’ launched by All India Congress Committee (AICC) was meant to establish a direct connection between the party workers and supporters at grassroots level with the party’s Central leadership, they said.

The party released a mobile number 7996179961 on which the workers and supporters have to send a text message from their mobile phones duly giving their voter card identity number. With the app, the party workers would be able to communicate directly with the party Central leadership.

“It is a two-way communication wherein genuine party workers and supporters could share their views and ideas on the party functioning and provide feedback from the grassroots level,” Swapna explained.

Ram Mohan Reddy said it was planned to enroll one lakh members by July 17. He appealed to the party cadres to make serious efforts to enroll at least 5,000 people in every Assembly segment, especially the youth.

The district Congress president N Rajender Reddy said the app would be helpful to expose failures of the State and Central governments among public and to fight against the government’s failures.

Party leaders K Srinivas Rao, G Vijayarama Rao, Namindla Srinivas, Bharath Chandra Reddy, K Sridhar, J Raghava Reddy, Bhukya Uma, Poshala Padma, K Srinivas, B Sarala B Kalyani and others were present. In another programme in Warangal, city Congress working president Rajanala Srihari also asked the party workers in Warangal East Assembly constituency to enroll as many members as possible to support the party.

He said the enrolment in the app was must to get nominated posts and to contest in the future elections. Hence every worker in the party must enroll her or his name in the app and strengthen the hands of AICC chief Rahul Gandhi, he added.
