Warangal: The implementation of 30-day action plan is to ushers in new era of rural development, Warangal Urban District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil said.

The Collector, who participated in the Gram Sabhas at Vangapally and Marripalligudem villages under Kamalapuram mandal on Monday, appealed to the people to take active part in the 30-day Action Plan, aimed at the all-round development of the rural areas.

"The Sarpanches, ward members and panchayat secretaries play a crucial role in the development of GPs. If they put up concerted effort, all the villages will be developed as model ones," he said. The impetus should be on clean, green and hygienic surroundings which help people lead a healthy life, Patil said. Besides being responsible in disposing waste, the villagers should also spare some time for their localities, he added.

He directed the officials to ensure dumping yards and graveyards in all GPS. The Transco officials were told to ensure street lights remain off during the day-time.

Stating that the government increased the wages of the sanitation workers to Rs 8,500 a month, the Collector told them to give their best in their duty. He said that GPs plant at least 2,000 saplings covering an area of 5 kms and ensure their survival would get special incentives. He directed the officials to raze the dilapidated GP buildings. He inspected the construction of community toilets being built as part of Swachh Sarvekshan at Marripalligudem.
