Police taking an Anganwadi teacher into custody
Nizamabad: The protests by Anganwadi teachers and workers in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts led to tension.
Anganwadi teachers and helpers staged a protest in front of Kamareddy Collectorate on Wednesday alleging that Kamareddy Project Director (PD) Radhamma was making false bills and cutting the amount from their salaries, which are already very meagre.
AWW and Helpers Union State secretary Jayalakshmi alleged that PD Radhamma had misappropriated lakhs of rupees in cookers scam in Karimnagar earlier. Why Radhamma is being continued as PD, even after CAG reported that the PD has sold red gram dal and committed several other irregularities? she questioned.
In Nizamabad, CITU district secretary Nurjahan, Anganwadi teachers and Helpers Union leaders Swarna, Bharti and Suma and thousands of ICDS employees took out a rally to the collectorate.
The police took several of Anganwadi teachers and helpers into custody, leading to uproar from the protestors.
