Rising number of corona positive cases among the CMO staff leads to extension of the Chief Minister’s stay at farmhouse

Hyderabad: The rising number of corona positive cases among the staff working at Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's official residence cum camp office in Pragati Bhavan has led to the Chief Minister temporarily shifting to his farmhouse in Erravelli village of Siddipet district located nearly 60 kms away from the State capital. He had been monitoring the Covid situation in the State from his farmhouse. The CM is likely to return to Pragati Bhavan on Sunday.

After the first case of positive case reported among a staff member in Pragati Bhavan, the Chief Minister left for his farmhouse on June 28 after offering floral tributes to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao. He planned to return to Pragati Bhavan on July 1. After it came to light that four more staff members were tested positive, the Chief Minister preferred to stay back. The authorities were instructed to sanitise the entire premises and conduct medical tests for the staff who were on regular duties, mainly police and outsourcing staff.

Though the CM was away from the city, sources said that he was in touch with senior officials through video and teleconferences every day. If everything remains normal, he will return by Sunday evening and hold a meeting with selected officials and take decisions regarding the containment of the spread of deadly virus in the State, particularly in Hyderabad.
