District Collector S Venkat Rao flagged off the 2K Run on Wednesday to spread awareness about the importance of vote among the people in the district.
Narayanpet: District Collector S Venkat Rao flagged off the 2K Run on Wednesday to spread awareness about the importance of vote among the people in the district.
As part of the voter awareness programme, the District Collector launched the 2K Run from Revenue Development Office (RDO) in the district headquarter and later took part in a huge rally which was later formed in to a human chain at Satyanarayana junction.
Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector said, "We have already made all arrangements for the upcoming Parliamentary elections and now launched the voter awareness programme for the public."
He said as there was still a lot of lack of awareness among the common public about the importance of vote and voting rights, he called on the youth and educated people to spread the importance of vote to people in rural villages. "Each and every individual has the responsibility to vote and spread its importance to those who are unaware of its importance. Vote is the strongest weapon in the hands of common people which has the power to change the nation. So, every individual should take voting as a responsibility and on the election day, every person, who is above 18 years of age, should exercise their franchise and extend their hand in electing the right candidate who can lead the country on the path of development," said the Collector.
Revenue Divisional Officer Cheerla Srinivas, MEPMA, IKP, Anganwadi, Asha workers, school children, teachers and other officials from various departments participated in the programme. The children and participating officials took an oath and promised to compulsorily take part in the voting in the upcoming Parliament elections.
