The Telangana government has announced lockdown in five districts as a precautionary measure to control the spread of COVID-19.

The central and state governments have decided to lockdown five districts in Telangana till March 31 as a precautionary measure to control the spread of COVID-19.

The lockdown will be observed in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Medchal, Bhadradri-Kothagudem. Meanwhile, three districts in Andhra Pradesh that include Prakasam, Vishakapatnam and Srikakulam will be locked down till March 31.

As many as 75 districts in the country will be locked down till March 31, announced the central government on Sunday evening in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases.

The lockdown comes after the successful progress of Janata Curfew announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In Telangana, the chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao along with his family and ministers clapped at the Pragati Bhavan as a gesture of appreciation.
