First phase of local polls held peacefully

Parigi: The first phase of polling for MPTC and ZPTC in the constituency ended peacefully. Some 15 candidates are contesting for the 4 ZPTC seats, and 154 candidates are in the fray for 54 MPTC seats.

As many as 136 polling centers have been set up for the first phase polls. Pink ballot paper for MPTC and white ballot for ZPTC were used. Items like matchbox, water bottles were not allowed inside the polling booths.

Tight security was arranged to prevent unwanted situations. There was a minor dispute in Sultanpur village in Parigi mandal, but police controlled the situation by convincing both the parties. Except the single incident, polling in the constituency went peaceful.
