Speaking at a meeting held with PET teachers and representatives of various sports unions in the conference hall of KMC office here on Friday, Mayor Ravinder Singh said that free coaching will be given in 26 sports for students in the summer camp, which would be held at Ambedkar Stadium here.

This summer camp will be organised better than that held last year, where about 2,300 students participated in various sports. This year arrangements were made to give coaching to about 3,000 students by investing Rs 15 to Rs 20 lakhs and a well-balanced diet and butter milk will also be provided. The camp will be inaugurated on April 30 and the closing ceremony will be held on May 31, the Mayor added.

Sing said that as part of Smart City, Ambedkar Stadium will be developed with an investment of Rs 25 crores. Tenders were called for providing modern and advanced facilities in the stadium.

As the elections are going on, modernisation works were not taken up. Hockey ground, handball and kho-kho courts will be constructed with advanced facilities along with laying of walking track and cycling track separately.

About 14 types of gym equipment that will help to keep the body fit will be installed in the open gym, located near swimming pool and the gym is open for all. All sections of people can utilise this opportunity to keep themselves fit in condition, said the Mayor.

Coaches selected to give summer coaching to students must provide better training to the students, Singh added.
