Hyderabad: SSC students likely to be allowed to write exams at nearby centres

Hyderabad: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) is mulling to allow students, who have shifted from private residential hostels to their hometowns, or other districts, to appear for the pending SSC examinations at the centres nearer to them.
According to the State School Education Department sources, the issue has come up for discussion at the highest level, after the officials are confronted with a similar situation faced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Speaking to The Hans India, a top source said, "It was brought to the notice of the board officials that some students staying in private residential hostels have shifted to their native places located in some other districts. Earlier, they were allocated examination centres in the places where their hostels were located."
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, many of those students have left to their hometowns, located in different districts. Private hostels could not open their doors due to the current situation. Following this, the students have expressed their inability to reach the examination centres travelling from their hometowns located in other districts. For example, there are several students from districts like Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda who stay in private residential hostels in Hyderabad.
All such students and their parents have urged the board officials to make arrangements to conduct exams nearer to them. Following this, it was decided to ask all such students to submit their details to the District Education Officers (DEO), of the location, where they are currently located. In turn, the DEOs were asked to send the details to the board.
Once the data of the students is received, the Board will explore the possibility of allocation of examination centres to them. The students have been asked to submit their details with supporting documents like hall ticket issued earlier by the DEOs concerned to take further action before June 6. But the big question here is that the exams are scheduled to be held on June 8 which means the authorities just have one day left for receiving submissions and taking decision.
