Kodangal: An outsourcing employee of the electricity department was electrocuted while carrying out repairs to an electrical pole in Sun City Colony of Kodangal mandal on Wednesday. The victim suffered over 90 percent burns in the incident.

According to sources, Golla Narsimhulu (35) of Parsapur village of Kodangal mandal was recently appointed as a contract labourer in the electricity department. On Wednesday, Narasimhulu was asked to carry out some repair works to the electrical pole in the Sun City Colony.

As the electricity department authorities confirmed the line cut (LC) to the power lines in the said Colony, the labourer climbed the electrical pole and carrying out repairs when he received the electrical shock.

The poor man, who tried to balance on the wires for more than 20 minutes, suffered severe burns. By the time the local could rescue Narsimhulu, the poor man received more than 90 percent burns and was critically injured. He was, however, brought down from the pole by the locals and was immediately rushed to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad for better treatment.

The locals blamed the electricity department officials for the incident where the outsourcing worker was made to work in a high-risk situation without taking any precautions.
