Born and brought up in a tiny village Brahmana Vellemla, of Narketpally mandal in Nalgonda district, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, the Bhongir MP has been a witness to a plethora of problems the people face with no hope in sight. Such people are always in dire need of support from someone who could lighten their burden and share their agony of life.

To ease the burden of people, MP Komatireddy formed an NGO Prateek Foundation eight years ago in the Nalgonda district.

"Let's payback to the society that sustained and supported our growth," says Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. "Every citizen has a moral and social responsibility to help the needy," Venkat Reddy says, adding that he believes in the saying ' Our will to serve gives us the means to serve'. In a country with a population of over 1.3 billion, there is no dearth of people who are passionate enough to solve problems of society, he says.

He strongly believes that together we can make a difference in the lives of the disadvantaged and underprivileged. With the same noble mission in mind, he had established the foundation.

Its motto, 'Caring and Sharing' speaks volumes about its aspirations. It came into existence with the avowed purpose of addressing the problems of farmers, students, Youth, small entrepreneurs in the district and beyond.

Moved by the pathetic plight of poor farmers, weavers, children, unemployed youth who are subjected to untold miseries, the founder chairman of the NGO Venkat Reddy came forward to help those struggling to survive.

long with the like-minded and compassionate people as its trustees, he designed many innovative programmes to supplement the welfare measures of the government to address the people's problems.

Having noticed the acute problem of water scarcity in the region, the Foundation started sensitising people about water harvesting methods. The Foundation helped people construct hundreds of farm ponds, trenches, soaking pits and bore well, recharge pits in fields, institutions and public places. Showing its sincerity, Prateek Foundation has been striving to empower farmers with required technical assistance, genuine seeds, fertilizers and pesticides.

The Foundation also helps farmers get fair price for their produce through Food Producers Organisations and their agriculture initiative. So far more than 11,000 farmers benefitted from this initiative.

Speaking to The Hans India, Prateek Foundation CEO MV Gona Reddy informed that one of the main objectives in establishing Prateek Foundation is to transform the unemployed into employable force and entrepreneurs. This initiative addresses not just the economic angle of the problem but also eliminates the undesirable unrest among the youth.

The Foundation has been conducting skill development programsme, supplying study materials, organising Job Melas and providing employment opportunities regularly. It includes providing technical assistance, mentoring and financial aid to entrepreneurs to sustain their enterprises.

Inclusive and equitable quality education for the needy is another important programme.

As part of this noble cause, a palatial new building with required infrastructure was built to house Komatireddy Pratheek Memorial Government Junior College(Boys), Nalgonda with an estimated cost of Rs 8 crore. Additional classrooms, computer labs, mineral water plants were constructed.

Meritorious students and toppers have been provided with financial assistance to help them pursue higher studies in prestigious institutes. And the Foundation believes in continuing the journey, not in reaching a goal, he added.
