Hyderabad: The Central Zone Task Force sleuths along with local police on Saturday night arrested one Mangilal Jain (59) for selling banned foreign cigarettes and seized Rs 2 lakh worth cigarettes from his possession.

On credible information, the sleuths raided a shop in Begum Bazaar and seized 380 packets of banned cigarettes. The accused is running a gift article at Feelkahana.

The accused also fraudulently procures local-made Paris and many other banned foreign cigarettes to avoid customs duty and GST causing wrongful loss to government and also cheating innocent people in the guise of original Paris and other foreign brands cigarettes.

The material is being received from Delhi, UP and Kolkata via railway transport and the same supplied to the local traders in Hyderabad.

The accused buys the cigarette packet at Rs 6 and used to supply the same for Rs 20 to Rs 25, in turn the local traders used to sell the same for Rs 30 to Rs 40.
