RTC staff SoS to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan

Hyderabad: The TSRTC JAC on Monday knocked on the doors of Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and sought her intervention in resolving the ongoing strike of the employees and settle their issues, including the merger of the Corporation with the government.
The JAC leaders, led by E Ashwadhama Reddy, presented newspaper and video clippings to the Governor on the ongoing strike.
They told her that though the employees have been on strike for the past 10 days the government had not taken any steps to resolve their issues and on the other hand it had also refused to pay their salaries for the month of September depriving them and their families of celebrating Dasara and Bathukamma.
They complained that the decision to treat about 50,000 employee as self-dismissed was against the Constitution.
They also told the Governor that the wage agreement of April 1, 2017 was not implemented so far. They pointed out that the government had constituted a sub-committee with a group of seven ministers and it had recommended 16 per cent interim relief when the RTC workers proposed to go on strike during 2018.
After an assurance by the sub-committee to appoint an expert committee to study and strengthen the RTC, the strike call was withdrawn.
They told the Governor that while the losses were to the tune of Rs 3,500 crore, the RTC had assets worth over Rs 80,000 crore and expressed apprehension that the government had cast its eyes on those properties and was handing over it to the private parties.
The union leaders said that several employees committed suicides because of the government's announcement of self-dismissal by the workers.
They alleged that the management had stopped the medical services to the staff. They wanted the Governor to intervene and direct the government to settle the issues.
