Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy asked the farmers to be on alert following the reports that cyclone Nivar will have an impact on southern Telangana.

Urging the farmers to not to bring cotton and paddy to the procurement centres, the Minister asked the officials to ensure clearing of stocks that have already been brought to the procurement centres.

That apart, he asked the officials to make necessary arrangements like tarpaulin sheets and alternative arrangements to ensure the paddy and cotton are not exposed to rains.

The Minister asked the officials to be on high alert and ordered to not to leave the procurement centres. The district and regional officials were asked to take stock of the situation arising out of the cyclone to take necessary steps.

He told the farmers to bring any problems faced by them to the notice of higher authorities in the agriculture department.
