The Telangana government developed an app with the collaboration of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to identify the farmers who took multiple loans based on their Aadhaar number. Besides, the government scrapped grama sabhas that used to do social auditing to recognize the beneficiaries.
The app identifies the farmers who took the loans less than Rs 25,000 and the beneficiaries will be provided the amount through e-KUBER. However, the government provided additional powers to the bank managers to identify the beneficiaries for farmer loan waiving. And the process will end in two days.
If the farmer is not eligible for the loan waiving scheme, the amount will be credited to the Agriculture department. And the farmers who did not have an Aadhaar card will get the amount after May 15.
The loan waiver scheme allows the waive of one loan per family. It is estimated that around 48 lakh farmers are eligible for the loan waiver scheme and loans up to Rs 1 lakh will be issued to the farmers.
