Visakhapatnam: It was a perfect sychronisation of sorts as differently-abled students of Hidden Sprouts Special School performed 'Dasavataralu' on stage. Presented as part of the 80th birthday celebrations of actor and writer Gollapudi Maruti Rao held at AMCOSA on Sunday, the birthday of noted actor was celebrated in a befitting manner by Visakha Rasagna Vedika.
The dance programme was followed by 'Sahithi Maruteeyam', reminiscing the significant contributions made by Maruti Rao to the literature world. Moderated by D V Surya Rao, the literary conference saw a group of intellectuals recalling the exclusive works of the actor-writer. President of Visakha Rasagna Vedika G Raghurama Rao said the idea behind organising such programme was to make people of Visakhapatnam aware of Maruti Rao's remarkable contributions to literature.
While senior journalist B. Prabhakara Sarma recalled the columns featured in The Hans India as 'Gollapudi Musings', senior journalist K Ramachandra Murthy spoke about 'Vandella Kathaku Vandanalu' contributed by Maruti Rao.
Later, Raghurama Rao, DG of Fire Department K Satyanarayana, CMD of CMR Group Mavuri Venkataramana, Chairman of Vijay Nirman Company S. Vijay Kumar, Kandimalla Sambasiva Rao, actor Ravi Kondala Rao, among others took part in 'Sayamkalamayindi' held on the occasion. They joined the felicitation ceremony of Maruti Rao.
K Srinivasa Rao, a scientist, presented a shawl to Maruti Rao which was woven with the prints of 'Mohana raga' that tops the list of the actor's favourite ragas.
